The story so far
In a freezing cold Italian piazza director Vernie Yeung and his crew prepare to capture the BRAVIA-drome on film for the latest Sony ad campaign. This is the culmination of months of hard work, taking an initial idea from pencil sketch through design, testing and build, to its 10-tonne realisation: a huge zoetrope for the modern age.
A special visitor to the shoot is Brazilian football sensation Kaká. Wrapped up against the cold, he joins the crowd to watch the BRAVIA-drome spin into life. As the record-breaking machine hits its optimum speed of 44 km/h a series of still images of the football star appear to merge into a single moving sequence, demonstrating Kaká’s fast, sharp skills.
This process is the perfect analogy for how Sony’s Motionflow 200Hz technology works, intelligently adding new frames to action scenes to make them appear smoother than ever.
Post production is now complete, the soundtrack’s in place, and the ad has hit screens. You can see it here.
